Talk:Overwhelming critical
From NWNWiki
I ran some tests with combat debugging, and I saw Overwhelming Criticals and Massive Criticals applied to the same critical hit. I also saw Overwhelming Criticals and Thundering Rage criticals applied to the same critical hit. So I fixed the notes. --The Krit 18:16, 7 February 2007 (PST)
Is the 1d6 applied before the weapon multiplier or after?
Example:
Heavy Xbow at this point would be 17-20 crit range and *2 multiplier. If I roll a 1 for damage, with an normal Xbow, would it be (1+1d6) *2, or 1*2 +1d6 ?Bromium 10:24, 28 March 2007 (PDT)
- Neither, technically, although the latter is closer. If you score an overwhelming critical with a heavy crossbow, the damage would be 2d10 + 1d6. (Criticals are multiple die rolls, not one roll multiplied.) --The Krit 07:54, 29 March 2007 (PDT)
[edit] Testing results
After much testing I have received a pattern that models the following damage for overwhelming critical.
Base damage x multiplier + 1d6 x multiplier for a normal overwhelming critical.
Maximum base damage + base damage x (multiplier -1) + 1d6 for Ki damage overwhelming critical
Maximum base damage + base damage x (multiplier -1) for Ki damage critical.
Has anyone else done an in depth testing of overwhelming critical? I have already established that the game description does not account for all the damage.

Say you have a scimmy with 2x and OC gives 1d6 extra on a crit...on level 7 or whatever WM it goes to 3x crit. Do you get now a 2d6 OC or still a 1d6? --71.40.148.178 23:42, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- Since the critical multiplier is x3, you get 2d6 extra damage from overwhelming critical. --The Krit 22:31, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
