encounter scaling[]

I added a note on encounter scaling. Several articles (some on areas of the OC) indirectly refer to the concept but don't identify it. I thought having some mention of it here might allow linking in those articles and tidying them a bit. The goal wasn't really to detail the toolset functionality, just give enough info that someone could see how an encounter might produce different spawns for different parties. - MrZork (talk) 20:52, February 11, 2013 (UTC)

encounter objects distinguished from "encounters" players mention[]

The goal of the parenthetical note was to help differentiate the game object the article describes from the more generic term players use to describe the creatures they met in a particular area. E.g., a player might say, "I must have fought 20 zombies in that Gulnan encounter," even though Gulnan wasn't technically an encounter spawn. - MrZork (talk) 21:11, February 11, 2013 (UTC)

  • Unless there is more to say about the generic term, I'm thinking there is not enough justification for a second article (one of the possibilities I was thinking about). So I went with moving stuff around to move all the definitions in the first paragraph, while leaving the rest of the article to cover the encounter object. It might work, particularly since almost all links to this page refer to encounter objects. --The Krit (talk) 02:44, March 9, 2013 (UTC)
