Pale master details[]

The prestige class note involving pale master was updated to bring back a mention of "level 15" for epic spells. I had removed this before because I do not think it's appropriate content for this article. Rather than engage in an edit war, I thought I would lay out my reasoning here in the talk page.

My first concern is that this article is about the bard class. Including too many details about other classes detracts from the article's focus. Furthermore, the prestige class tips have been quick summaries along the lines of suggested reading; they link to other class articles and give a summary of why you might want to read those articles. So my feeling is that it is distracting to mention details like "level 15 required"; it should be enough to point to the articles where those details are more fitting (the pale master and epic spell articles in this case). In contrast, I accept the reminder that bard alone does not qualify for epic spells, as that is a relevant detail about the article's subject.

Related to the above is figuring out where to draw the line. The note currently states that access to epic spells is gained at pale master level 15. Why does it not also mention that access to undead summons is gained at pale master level 4? Why not mention that 3 bard levels are needed to qualify for pale master? What is so special about epic spells that they warrant breaking from the pattern of keeping articles focused on their subject?

I think that covers my main points. I'm inclined to remove the mention of pale master level, but I'll give people a chance to say why it should be kept. --The Krit (talk) 18:07, October 24, 2018 (UTC)

  • It's been over two weeks. I'll change the article for now. --The Krit (talk) 06:13, November 9, 2018 (UTC)
