The slashing damage type is caused when the sharpened edge (rather than the point) of a blade is run across or into an opponent. It is one of the physical damage types.
An item traditionally sought to resist slashing damage is the the swordsman's belt, or the greater swordsman's belt, if that is available.
Examples of weapons that cause this type of damage include
- kukris, sickles, and kamas;
- axes;
- whips;
- katanas and scimitars;
- bastard swords, longswords, and greatswords;
- double axes and two-bladed swords; and
- creature bite items.
