Portraitedit
From NWNWiki
A portrait is a picture associated with a character.
Players choose a portrait for their character at character creation.
Portraits come in several sizes:
- huge (256x512), used in character creation,
- large (128x256), used in character sheets,
- medium (64x128),
- small (32x64), and
- tiny (16x32), used in the mouse-over name bubbles and chat window.
The huge portrait is optional, and the game will use the large portrait instead if the huge image is missing during the character creation. Each of the portraits used can be identified by the letter code used as the last letter (H, L, M, S, T) of the file name before the .tga file name extension.
Note that bottom section of each image isn't used. For example, of the 256x512 portrait, only the top 400 pixels are used; the rest can be left blank or be used for hiding image credits.

[edit] Converting portraits
- Place a jpeg (e.g.
MyPic.jpg) into your NWN "portraits" directory (typicallyC:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\portraits\). - Start NWN and either start a new game or load a saved one.
- Enter the console command "Convertportrait" followed by the name of your image without the extension (e.g. "Convertportrait MyPic").
- This will automatically create all the different files needed. Zip it up and share it with the community.
[edit] Changed portraits
BioWare changed some character and NPC portraits originally included with NWN in a patch -- apparently because the artist copied aspects of the images from pictures of celebrities or other sources.
| Original portrait | Changed portrait | Source |
| Leonard Nimoy | ||
| Jane Seymour | ||
| Robert De Niro | ||
Another apparent copy that remains unchanged:
Joseph Fiennes
