A merchant or store is a unique object in Neverwinter Nights that contains an inventory of items available for purchase. This greatly simplifies the buying and selling process. The merchant screen is a graphical user interface similar to the players' inventory so that items desired to buy or to sell can simply be dragged and dropped from player to merchant or vice versa.

Stores may also offer identification of unknown items. The price for this service is set by the module builder; the default price is 100 gp.
