Type of feat: general (available every three level-ups)
Prerequisite: proficiency with the chosen weapon, base attack bonus +8
Required for: overwhelming critical, devastating critical
Specifics: Combat ability increases the critical threat range of a selected weapon by a range equal to the item's base threat range. A longsword that normally threatens a critical on a roll of 19-20 would now threaten a critical on a roll of 17-20.
Use: automatic. The threat range of a keen weapon is already doubled, increasing to triple with this feat. This feat can be selected multiple times, applying to a new weapon category each time.
Special: Halflings and gnomes are small creatures, and as such they can never use the following large weapons: dire mace, double-bladed sword, doubleaxe, greataxe, greatsword, halberd, heavy flail, and scythe.
Notes[]
- Paladins can choose improved critical in the whip as an epic bonus feat. This is likely a bug as they cannot select this feat for any other weapon as a bonus feat.
- The creature weapon variant of this feat is non-functional; the unarmed strike variant is used with creature weapons (or any other natural weapon).
- There is no variant of this feat for the magic staff.
Builder notes[]
Item feat: Only improved critical (unarmed); the rest can be added with custom content.
Custom content notes[]

- These feats can be added to iprp_feats.2da to make them available as item feats.
- New improved critical feats for new weapon types cannot be created, but existing weapon types can be overwritten.
