Prerequisite: (Epic) Epic Cleric, Epic Druid, Epic Pale Master, Epic Sorcerer, Epic Wizard, Spellcraft 32, Cast 9th level spells

Specifics: Casts the Hellball spell 1x per day (see below).

Duration: Instantaneous

Description: The caster creates a ball of energy that does 10d6 points of acid, fire, electrical and sonic damage to all targets in its blast radius. This spell is not affected by armor check penalties, nor can it be interrupted. For saves, the evasion feat does not apply.

  • Requires Hordes of the Underdark.
  • Those affected by this spell are also knocked prone (unless immune to knockdown).
  • Targeting this on the caster will trigger it immediately, with the explosion centered on the caster.
  • Caster takes 10d6 of Negative energy damage upon casting. This can be blocked with an appropriate protective spell (Negative Energy Protection, Shadow Shield). Caster is subject to the damage from the spell if caught in the blast. This damage only apply if MODULE_SWITCH_EPIC_SPELLS_HURT_CASTER switch was enabled on the module.
  • The Area of Effect is enormous, but anybody with cover that breaks LOS from ground zero will take no damage from the spell, despite being in the Area of Effect.
  • Some feel this spell has limited use by the time it is acquired, since its damage is dealt across the different elements.
    • Some of the high level energy-absorption spells are able to prevent almost all the damage done from this spell, without a successful reflex save.
    • Common innate monster resistances combined with a successful reflex save also prevents most or all of the damage.
    • In PvP, most players will at least have basic resistance items (e.g., Ring of Power, Ring of Elemental Resistance) and decent reflex saves, meaning only the sonic component will deal damage.
