Defensive stance
From NWNWiki
Type of Feat: Class
Prerequisite: Dwarven Defender 1
Specifics: When he needs to, the character can become a stalwart bastion of defense. In this defensive stance, he gains phenomenal strength and durability but he cannot move from the spot he is defending. At first level, this ability can be used 1x/day. Every 2 levels beyond 1, the character gains an additional use per day. He gains the following benefits:
- +2 strength
- +4 constitution
- +2 resistance bonus on all saves
- +4 dodge bonus on AC
Use: Selected
[edit] Notes
- Exclusive to Hordes of the Underdark.
- Defense stance mode automatically drops if the character's current target is removed, and all other opponents are out of reach.
- A character in defensive stance mode may target an out-of-reach opponent, but will not move to engage such an opponent.
- An opponent can back out of reach of a character in defensive stance mode. Since the opponent is not removed, this will not cancel the stance. On the other hand, the character will not move to re-engage this opponent.
- If a party member comes between a character and his target, the character might drop out of defensive stance mode, just as when there were no more targets.
- Most usable items that cannot be equipped (such as healer's kits) may be used without breaking a defensive stance.
- Casting a spell will not break the defensive stance mode, but it does remove all bonuses of the stance. (This is likely a bug.)
- Multiple combat modes cannot be used simultaneously. Thus, defensive stance cannot be activated at the same time as other modes, such as expertise, defensive casting, Flurry of Blows, and Power Attack.
- The bonuses granted by this feat will not stack over the limits of the game (ability increase +12, AC increase +20).
- This feat does not work with ranged weapons.
