A throwing weapon refers to an item which can be used to perform an attack roll, are primarily for the purpose of attacking at a distance (i.e., while not in melee), and which are launched by physical strength (i.e., thrown by hand).

Halflings get an attack bonus from using throwing weapons because of the good aim feat.
