The bandit comes in four varieties (one normal bandit and three shapechangers). The standard bandit has a longsword (disarmable) and padded leather armor. The shapechanger varieties are initially human, like the normal bandit, but do not have any armor or weapon. When a shapechanger variety is attacked for the first time, he will polymorph (permanently) into his alternate form. If this polymorph is dispelled, he will not attempt to polymorph into it again.
When polymorphed, a bandit has the shapechanger race and is given 20 temporary hit points, a +5 dodge AC bonus, and damage reduction 10/+1. Additionally his strength, dexterity, and constitution are overridden, and he is given creature weapons (consisting of two piercing-slashing claws (with the exception of the wererat) and one slashing bite) with damages as shown below.
|Appearance||Str||Dex||Con||Claw damage||Bite damage|
|Werecat||20||16||20||1d8 +5||2d6 +5|
|Wererat||16||16||22||none||1d4 + 3|
|Werewolf||18||18||18||1d3 +4||1d6 +4|
