The asin() NWScript command returns the arcsine (inverse sine) of a float. That is, this command returns the angle (measured in degrees) whose sine is the value provided. The returned value is in the range -90.0 to 90.0. On an error (the supplied value is larger than 1 or smaller than -1), this returns zero.
