A .tga file has a standard format for storing an image. These are used for most graphical resources in Neverwinter Nights, including portraits, icons, and the graphical user interface. Many textures (the colors painted on 3-dimensional objects) are also .tga, although some are .dds. The .tga files used by Neverwinter Nights must be stored in the 24 bit, uncompressed variant of the standard format.
